Product Details
Natural oil and wax-based wood finish that meets the natural demands of timber and retains its natural characteristics. Microporous and will not peel crack, flake or blister. Resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk against water. When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants; as well as being suitable for children’s toys as per EN 71.3 (European norm) as well as resistant to perspiration and saliva. RECOMMENDED USE Interior cladding, ceiling profiles, doors, skirting, beams, edge-glued panels, hardboard and MDF. Ideally suited as a coloured primer for wooden floors and furniture, or for re-coating already darkened wood surfaces. Especially recommended for children’s toys.
PREPARATION Wood surface must be clean and dry (moisture content max. 20%). Osmo Wood Wax Finish is ready to use, please do not thin, stir well before use. Clean or slightly sand old microporous finishes, remove old varnish (Osmo Paint Remover or by sanding). Always wear a dust mask when sanding. Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper – final sanding for flooring P 120 - 150, furniture P 150 - 220. Remove dust etc. thoroughly from the surface with a brush or vacuum cleaner before application. The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the wood’s natural characteristics, therefore a trial application is required before finishing.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE Osmo Wood Wax Finish is ready to use, please do not thin. Stir carefully before use. Transparent tones (1 coat): Apply thinly along the wood grain on the clean and dry wood surface. For subtle glazing effect, apply thinly with a lint-free cloth on the whole area, and within 20 minutes wipe away excess cleanly and evenly. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying. Intensive tones (2 coats): Apply thinly along the wood grain on the clean and dry wood surface using a high-quality brush. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying. Then apply the second coat – also thinly. Flooring: After thoroughly drying, a topcoat should be carried out with a clear Osmo Polyx-Oil. Note: Due to the risk of over-application, we strongly advise against the intensive application (two coats) for flooring.
CLEANING OF TOOLS Clean working utensils with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (benzene-free). DRYING TIME Approx. 24 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23 °C/ 50 % rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity can increase the drying time. Ventilate well while drying.
COVERAGE 1 Liter will cover approx. 258 ft2 (24 m2 ) Coverage depends significantly on the condition of the wood. All information refers to smooth and planed/ sanded surfaces. Other surfaces may lead to differences in coverage.
NOTE Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time and the typical smell of oil. Choose colour tones that match the natural tone of wood or a darker colour tone (trial application). Oils enhance the natural colour tone of wood (permanent wet effect). For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Mahogany, Merbau etc.), we recommend applying Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. A trial application is recommended. Caution: Apply max. one coat thinly to cabinet interiors and drawers with a cloth.
